Duas for Umrah 2026 Every Dua You Need from Home to Haram and Back

Sep 16, 2026

Umrah is an act of worship from beginning to end.

Every stage of the journey from the moment you leave your home in the UK to the moment you return carries with it a dua from the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

These are not optional additions to the pilgrimage. They are the spiritual fabric of the journey itself. The pilgrims who memorise these duas before they travel arrive in Makkah ready to worship not searching their phones for the right words at the Haram entrance while hundreds of others are flowing past them.

This article gives you every dua you need. Arabic text. Translation. English meaning. And guidance on when each one is read.

Dua When Leaving Home for Umrah

The journey begins the moment you step out of your home. The Prophet ﷺ taught a specific dua for leaving the house — and for UK pilgrims departing for Umrah, this is where the ibadah of the journey begins.

Arabic:

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

Translation: Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.

Meaning: "In the name of Allah. I place my trust in Allah. And there is no might nor power except with Allah."

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever says this when leaving their home will be told: "You are guided, you are provided for, and you are protected."

(Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

Dua When Boarding the Aircraft

When boarding the plane to Saudi Arabia, read the dua for riding a conveyance — whether a vehicle, aircraft, or ship.

Arabic:

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Translation: Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibun.

Meaning: "Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, and we were not capable of it ourselves. And indeed to our Lord we shall return."

(Surah Az-Zukhruf 43:13-14)

Then say Alhamdulillah three times, Allahu Akbar three times, and read:

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Subhanakal-lahumma inni dhalamtu nafsi faghfir li fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa ant.

"Glory be to You O Allah. I have wronged myself, so forgive me. For indeed none forgives sins except You."

Dua for the Journey — Dua of the Traveller

The dua of the traveller is among the most powerful duas in the Sunnah. The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Three duas are accepted without doubt: the dua of the one who is oppressed, the dua of the traveller, and the dua of a father for his child."

(Tirmidhi)

As a traveller performing Umrah, your duas throughout the journey carry particular weight. Make abundant dua for yourself, your family, and your community throughout your travel.

Dua When Arriving in Saudi Arabia

Upon landing and when first arriving in Saudi Arabia, read:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْبَلْدَةِ وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا

Translation: Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra hadhihil- baldati wa khayra ahlisha wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharrisha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma fiha.

Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for the good of this city, the good of its people and the good of what is in it. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people and the evil of what is in it."

Dua When Entering Ihram at the Miqat

When you reach the Miqat — the boundary point before which Ihram must be entered — and you have dressed in your Ihram garments, make the intention and read:

Arabic:

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ عُمْرَةً

Translation: Labbayk Allahumma 'Umratan.

Meaning: "Here I am O Allah, for Umrah."

Some scholars add:

لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ، وَالْخَيْرُ فِي يَدَيْكَ، وَالرَّغْبَاءُ إِلَيْكَ وَالْعَمَلُ

Labbayka wa sa'dayk, wal-khayru fi yadayk, war-ragba'u ilayk wal-'amal.

"Here I am and at Your service. All good is in Your hands. Hope and desire are directed toward You, and all deeds."

The Talbiyah — Recite Until Tawaf Begins

From the moment of entering Ihram until the beginning of Tawaf, the Talbiyah is recited continuously — aloud by men, quietly by women.

Arabic:

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Translation: Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, Labbayka la shareeka laka labbayk, Innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, La shareeka lak.

Meaning: "Here I am O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise, grace and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner."

The Talbiyah is the sound of Umrah. Fill the journey from the Miqat to the Haram with it — on the road, on the bus, walking.

Dua When First Seeing the Kaaba

This is one of the most significant moments of any pilgrimage. The dua made at first sight of the Kaaba is among the most accepted duas.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"When you see the House (the Kaaba), raise your hands and make whatever dua you wish."

At this moment — raise your hands, look at the Kaaba, and make your personal dua first. Pray for yourself, for your family, for whatever is in your heart. This moment is yours.

Then read:

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، حَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ

Translation: Allahumma antas-salam wa minkas-salam, hayyina Rabbana bis-salam.

Meaning: "O Allah, You are As-Salam (Peace) and from You comes peace. Greet us, our Lord, with peace."

Dua When Entering Masjid Al Haram

When entering the Haram, enter with the right foot first and read:

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَافْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Translation: Bismillahi was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah. Allahummaghfir li dhunubi waftah li abwaba rahmatik.

Meaning: "In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, forgive me my sins and open for me the doors of Your mercy."

Dua at the Beginning of Tawaf

When you reach the Black Stone (Hajar Al Aswad) to begin Tawaf, face it, raise your hands and say:

بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ

Bismillah, Allahu Akbar.

"In the name of Allah. Allah is the Greatest."

If the Black Stone is too crowded to touch or kiss — face it, raise your hands toward it, say Allahu Akbar, and begin your Tawaf. This is the Sunnah.

During each circuit of Tawaf, there is no specific prescribed dua for each round. Make personal dua, recite Quran, make dhikr. Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, read:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Translation: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

Meaning: "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201)

Dua at Maqam Ibrahim After Tawaf

After completing seven circuits of Tawaf, pray two rakats of Nafl prayer at Maqam Ibrahim (the Station of Ibrahim). Read in the first rakat Surah Al-Kafirun and in the second Surah Al-Ikhlas.

Then make dua. Then drink Zamzam water.

Dua When Drinking Zamzam Water

Before drinking Zamzam, face the Qiblah, say Bismillah, and drink in three sips. Then read:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا، وَشِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ

Translation: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan wasi'an, wa shifa'an min kulli da'.

Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and a cure from every illness."

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for."

(Ibn Majah)

Make dua for whatever you most want from Allah when drinking Zamzam — health, guidance, rizq, the acceptance of your Umrah.

Dua at Safa — Before Sa'i Begins

When approaching Safa to begin Sa'i (walking between Safa and Marwa), read this verse as you approach:

إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللهِ

"Indeed Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah."

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:158)

Then ascend Safa, face the Kaaba, raise your hands and read:

Meaning: "There is no god but Allah alone with no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and all praise. And He is over all things capable. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, gave victory to His servant, and He alone defeated the confederates."

This is read three times on Safa, with personal dua made between each repetition. The same is read on Marwa.

Dua When Entering Madinah

When arriving in Madinah Al Munawwarah:

اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا حَرَمُ نَبِيِّكَ، فَاجْعَلْهُ وِقَايَةً لِي مِنَ النَّارِ، وَأَمَانًا مِنَ الْعَذَابِ، وَسُوءِ الْحِسَابِ

Translation: Allahumma hadha haramu Nabiyyik, faj'alhu wiqayatan li minan-nar, wa amanan minal-'adhab, wa su'il-hisab.

Meaning: "O Allah, this is the sanctuary of Your Prophet. Make it a protection for me from the Fire, a security from punishment and from a bad reckoning."

Dua When Entering Masjid An-Nabawi

Entering with the right foot:

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik.

"O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy."

Dua When Sending Salawat at the Rawdah

Standing before the Rawdah the blessed garden between the Prophet's ﷺ grave and his mimbar send salawat and make dua.

Meaning: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Noble."

Dua When Leaving Makkah to Return to UK

When departing Makkah, face the Kaaba one last time and make your personal dua. Then read:

آيِبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، عَابِدُونَ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Translation: Ayibuna, ta'ibuna, 'abiduna, li Rabbina hamidun.

Meaning: "We are returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord."

The Prophet ﷺ and the Sahabah would read this when returning from travel and from Hajj.

Dua When Arriving Home After Umrah

When you enter your home after returning from Umrah, pray two rakats of Nafl prayer as a shukr (gratitude) to Allah for the safe completion of your journey.

The Prophet ﷺ used to pray two rakats upon returning home from travel.

Then read:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَكَفَانَا وَآوَانَا، فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لَا كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلَا مُؤْوِيَ

Alhamdulillahil-ladhi at'amana wa saqana wa kafana wa awana, fakam mimman la kafiya lahu wa la mu'wi.

"All praise is for Allah who fed us, gave us drink, sufficed us and gave us shelter. How many are there who have no one to suffice them and no one to shelter them."
