Ramadan 2027: Key Dates to Plan Around

Next Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, and Eid Al Fitr around 9-10 March 2027. Exact dates will be determined by moon sighting and may therefore shift by a day. Here is how to break down the month:

• Early Ramadan (approximately 8–17 February): Many make the intention to fast and start preparing themselves for Ramadan. The Haram starts getting crowded for Taraweeh prayers, and the atmosphere builds. Demand is high, but manageable.
• Middle Ramadan (approximately 18–27 February): By this time, the routine is established, and many find this an ideal time for their first Ramadan Umrah.
• The last ten nights (from around the end of February to early March) are in high demand as pilgrims seek Laylatul Qadr. This means that this period has the least availability and the highest prices. Because the last 10 days are the busiest, we recommend deciding on your window early.

Which Part of Ramadan Is Right for You?

There is no correct answer, as it depends on your priorities.

• Want to enjoy the Ramadan atmosphere with a little more space? Then book early. This is also a good option if you’re travelling with older or younger family members, as it helps you avoid the busiest nights.
• If you want to settle into a good routine with your fasting and tarawih prayers during your trip, book for the middle of Ramadan.
• If your goal is to perform Umrah in the last 10 nights of Ramadan, book early because some travellers want to extend their stays in Makkah so they don't feel rushed.
• To experience the end of Ramadan in Makkah and the start in Madinah, book the longer packages.

What Is Different About Umrah While Fasting?

Some things differ between doing Umrah while fasting and doing it off-season. It’s good to prepare for that slightly.

Pace yourself. You'll be doing quite a bit of walking while fasting, so take breaks and plan your Umrah carefully. Many people wait until later in the day, or until it's cooler, to perform their Umrah.

Also, hydrate as much as possible at both suhoor and iftar, and drink steadily throughout the day. Eat slower-releasing foods at suhoor so they sustain you longer.

If you find a good, comfortable hotel near the Haram, take advantage of it and get some good, shorter rests between prayers, especially if you're planning to stay up for Tahajjud and worship.

Obviously, expect huge crowds at the Haram. People will move slowly, so give yourself extra time to reach a good spot for prayer. If you're wearing new clothes for Eid, wash them beforehand.

Respect health rules. Also, if you're unwell, plan your activities and fasting accordingly.

A Day During Ramadan

• Pre-dawn: Make suhoor and head to the mosque for Fajr.
• Morning: Read the Quran and do dhikr in a quiet corner, then take a short rest.
• Afternoon: Reflect, read, or rest. Pray Dhuhr and Asr at the mosque.
• Before Maghrib: Settle into your place and prepare to break your fast, sharing dates and water with those around you.
• After Maghrib: Break your fast with dates, water, and fruit. Head to the Mosque for Isha and Tarawih. After Isha, get some rest.
