Umrah Tour from the UK 2026–2027: Your Journey, Day by Day
A flight and hotel get you to Makkah. An Umrah tour gets you the experience of arriving refreshed and knowing exactly where you need to go for prayer, visiting the locations of the early Muslim community, and most importantly, going back with your heart fulfilled instead of blistered feet.
This is the aim for every Umrah tour we arrange at Hajj and Umrah Experts. We are an ATOL-protected agency (License 11375), approved by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and have over 10 years’ experience in arranging trips from the UK for Muslims to fulfil their lifelong wish to perform Hajj and Umrah.
This guide covers what to expect on an Umrah tour from the UK, plus the latest information for 2026 and 2027, including how to choose the best date and duration for you.
The 2026–2027 Umrah Calendar
Umrah can be performed at any time of the year; however, there are times which are busier than others. Knowing this can help you make the right choice.
- Ramadan 2027 (about 8 February to 9 March): The most spiritually charged and busiest time of the year. Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9–10 March. The last ten nights are especially in demand, so book as early as you can.
- February to March 2027: The most spiritually charged and busiest time of the year, with Eid expected around the 9th-10th of March. The last ten days of Ramadan are extremely in demand, so book early.
- March to April 2027: After Ramadan. Pleasant weather, and the crowds ease after Eid.
- May 2027: Hajj. The Pilgrimage is expected in mid-May, and Umrah also pauses around this time.
- June to September 2027: The heat of Makkah and Madina during the summer, especially during the school holidays, can't be avoided with families travelling. Plan your day around prayer times, with worship during the coolest hours of the day.
- A good rule of thumb: the closer the dates are to school holidays and Ramadan, the earlier you should book.
Who Is This Umrah Tour For?
Every customer is different, so we're flexible when organising trips to meet your specific needs.
First-time pilgrims. You need clarity. We ensure our customers have all the information they need, explain the rituals, and keep a team member available to speak to at any time.
Families with children. Connected rooms. Hotels with an easy approach. A slower pace, more flexibility. Less rushed days and hours.
Parents and grandparents. Many UK families book Umrah as a gift for senior relatives. Here, proximity to hotels and transfers, plus a more leisurely pace, are key. A Surprise Ramadan Umrah gift for parents is one of the most memorable things customers have told us.
Women with a mahram. Women travelling with mahrams have additional needs, and we have special arrangements for this.
Returning pilgrims. Maybe you want to do ziarat, stay in a quieter hotel, or travel in off-peak months.
Your Umrah Tour, Step by Step
Here’s a sample 10-day itinerary, which can be shortened or extended to suit you.
Before You Fly
We complete your Saudi visa application (£49), confirm your UK departure flights and deliver your travel pack (with your documents, hotel details and useful information to review on your flight). Use this time to learn Umrah steps and the duas.
Day 1: Departure and Arrival
Fly from your chosen UK airport, such as London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, or Glasgow. The flight to Saudi Arabia takes about 6 hours from the UK. Pilgrims put on ihram on the plane and make the intention to perform Umrah. Many pilgrims perform Umrah at the miqats. Upon arrival, you will have to clear immigration, collect your bags and take a transfer to your hotel. Rest first, because the Haram will always be there.
Day 2: Your First Umrah
When you are ready, perform your Umrah by circling the Kaaba, praying two rak’ah behind the Maqam, drinking Zamzam, doing sa’i between Safa and Marwa, and finally performing halq or taqsir. Many pilgrims say that the first time they see the Kaaba is when the journey becomes real. Take your time to do all of the rituals, because once you leave Makkah, you may never come back.
Days 3–5: Worship and Ziyarat in Makkah
Use these days to pray and read the Quran in the Haram. During these days, we can also organise Ziyarat to places connected to the Prophet's ﷺ life and other important figures in Islamic history. These places include:
- Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira
- Jabal Thawr
- Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina
- Masjid Al Jinn and Jannat Al Mu’alla
The places visited on any day can change with local conditions, so your guide will confirm with you.
Day 6: Travelling to Madinah
Depending on your package, you will travel from Makkah to Madinah either by road or via the Haramain high-speed train. Check in to your hotel, rest, and then proceed to Masjid an-Nabawi. Greet the Prophet ﷺ and perform prayers in Rawdah. Official channels manage access to the Rawdah so that we will advise you on the process.
Days 7–9: Madinah, Slower and Softer
Most pilgrims say Madinah feels less overwhelming than Makkah. Visit other mosques in and around Madinah, such as:
- Masjid Quba, the first mosque built in Madinah
- Masjid al-Qiblatayn
- Mount Uhud
- Martyrs' Cemetery
- Jannat al-Baqi
- The Seven Mosques area (Khandaq)
Day 10: Farewell and Return
Offer your last dua at the Prophet's ﷺ Mosque, and we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to the UK. We will be with you every step of the way until you land in the UK.
Choosing Your Length: 7, 10 or 14 Nights
There is no right or wrong choice. Choose what works best for you.
7 nights works well for those with limited leave. Expect a focused, efficient trip with enough time in each city to feel present.
10 nights is the sweet spot for many UK pilgrims. You get an unhurried Umrah, proper Ziyarat in both cities and a few free days for worship.
14 nights is ideal for families, older travellers and anyone who wants to slow down. Longer stays also spread the cost across more days, so the price per night can be lower.
Pick The Right Level Of Comfort
The hotel you stay in can really impact your energy levels for worship. Factors such as distance, lifts and food options can all affect your energy levels.
- 3-star: Great value with clean, simple rooms—a good option if you plan to spend most of your time in the Haram. Our 3-star packages start from £615 per person.
- 4-star: Offer a little more space and are usually booked by families, from £685 per person.
- 5-star: Close to Haram with top comforts and services, from £710 per person.
Prices depend on dates, so double-check for the best rate.
Make the Most of Your Umrah Tour: Practical Advice
Prepare physically. Tawaf and sa'i take a toll, especially if you don't give your body enough time to prepare and break in your shoes.
You may think you can fit loads in, but you may want to think again. Leave plenty of time to get to Haram for prayers.
Carry the essentials. Essential items include a passport, visas, an itinerary, meds, a dua notebook, and a portable charger.
Expect crowds; remain patient. The Haram attracts millions of visitors annually. You will be one of them.
Look into the current situation. Rules around travel, vaccination, and Umrah can change. While we do our best to update you, it is best practice to check gov.uk before you travel.
